Michael-Bruno, LLC, was the design partner for this Overseas Building Operations (OBO) design-build project with construction company, SKE, for the upgrade and/or additions to U.S. Diplomatic facilities in accordance with OBO Building Codes of 2003 and International Building Code (IBC) of 2005. The host national codes as well as NFPA were also applied.

Technical areas covered in this project included: telecommunications, technical security systems (TSS), boundary, topographic and utility location survey, geotechnical engineering, landscape architecture, environmental protection, environmental remediation, local utility interface, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, structural, and architectural studies.

The design work had to take into consideration: seismic zone, local design loads, public roadways, flooding conditions, parking and walkways, interior roadways, driveways, and entrance plaza, guard booth, demolition, new pedestrian compound control access (CAC), exterior wall construction, FE/BR protection, perimeter walls and fences, bollards and planters, active anti-ram barriers, security lighting, hard-line walls, force entry grilles, public access control (PAC), safe havens, protected generators, non-FE/BR and non-blast windows and doors.

Deliverables consisted of: floor plans, ceiling plans, key plans (CAC, MSG Booth, Mail Screening Room), building/wall sections, site plan, elevations, catalog cuttings, foundation plans, framing plans, section/details for structural of the force entry and anti-ramming systems. Mechanical plans, equipment room plans, schedules, narratives, and catalog cuts were required for all the mechanical. Electrical called for overall plan, power plan, lighting plan, photo/data plan, security plan, etc.

Similar requests were made for plumbing, fire protection, security systems, and environmental.
