HRO
HRO
CDC
Human Resources Office (HRO)

In an effort to provide additional space needed for the Human Resource Office (HRO) at NSA Bahrain, this project called for the renovation of approximately 1,950 square feet of space in Building 18 for the Human Resources Office (HRO). The design, in general, provided office space for ten (10) personnel, a conference room, office utility space and a file storage room. More specifically, the work included partition walls, refinishing the existing walls, ceiling and flooring.
The project also modified the existing electrical distribution system, including panels, wiring, conduit and light fixtures.
Existing air-conditioning supply, return grilles, fire protection & alarm system were also renovated to provide proper air flow and compliance to Life Safety codes for the renovated space.

Child Development Center (CDC)

Also under this task order was the design and construction of a Child Development Center (CDC) at NSA Bahrain to fulfill the requirement for additional space, due to the growing family population.
The project converted approximately 945 square feet of existing space currently occupied by the Human
Resources Office on the ground floor of Building 267 into CDC space. The expanded contains a living room and a play/eating room. Also included are adult and child toilets, diaper changing area, sink and counter in the play/eating area. The design calls for re-finishing the existing walls, adding new ceiling and flooring and modify the existing electrical distribution system, panels, conduits, wiring and conduits including new lighting fixtures. Existing air-conditioning supply, return grilles, fire protection & alarm systems were also modified to provide proper air flow and compliance to Life Safety codes for the renovated space.
Both the HRO and CDC projects were designed to the latest revision/edition of the NAVFAC Design Guide, including Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), International Building Code (IBC), British Standards BS 7671(Local Code), IEE Wiring Regulation, 17th Edition, UK, “Requirements for Electrical Installations,” and British Standard BS7671: 2008.
Sustainable design was in accordance with Executive Order 13423, NAVFAC Engineering & Construction Bulletin (ECB) 2008-01 and other pertinent directives, integrate sustainable principles into the design, development and construction of the project. This reduced the total cost of ownership of the facility using a whole building, life-cycle approach. We provided and integrated sustainable design strategies and features to minimize the energy consumption of the facilities; conserve resources; minimize adverse effects to the environment; and improve occupant productivity, health, and comfort.
Energy conservation approach was in accordance with UFC 3-400-01, Design Energy Conservation.
