Giuseppe Bruno
After obtaining his degree in Engineering from the University of Naples, Bruno joined his father's construction company, working under contract with the U.S. Navy and NATO. For ten years he worked numerous military projects and, in 1993, expanded the company's business by winning a bid for the U.S. Navy's Family House Maintenance (600 units)-a contract he succeeded in keeping, despite tough bidding competition, for 11 years. Bruno eventually took over the family's firm. As large, billion-dollar-competition moved into the U.S. military construction arena in Italy, he down-sized the construction aspects of the business. He recognized, however, the opportunities in architectural design and engineering services and, as a result, opened Studio Tecnico di Giuseppe Bruno. The Studio's technical services covered all areas of design and construction: electrical, mechanical, architectural, environmental, energy conservation, and consulting. The company was unique in its ability to develop designs in accordance with U.S. and/or European architectural, mechanical and electrical practices, while adapting local construction codes, materials, and methods. National Electrical Code, for instance, is integrated with C.E.I. norms, IEC rules and ISO, UNI standards. The brevity and clarity of the plans permitted rapid comprehension by contractors, thereby enabling them to prepare bids with no time wasted for interpretation. The professionalism offered by Bruno allowed him to obtain more than 150 individual task orders from the U.S. Navy, while increasing his recognition for engineering excellence in the Italian sector. He authored the Manual for Safety in the Workplace, used in engineering classes throughout Italian universities. Bruno has also been involved in some of Italy's most prestigious government renovation projects, including: the Vittorio Emanuele Monument (Rome), Teatro Metastasio (Prato), and the Palazzo dei Priori (Peruga). He is noted as one of Italy's finest electrical engineers.
